Last week, we officially invested our 2021 Student leaders in our first online Investiture Assembly.
While COVID has prevented us from gathering as a whole school community, we were committed to formally honouring our 2021 leaders with as much tradition as possible.
With covid-safe protocols in place, we pre-recorded an investiture ceremony allowing our new leaders to be presented with their badges and address the school community via zoom.
We would like to thank our 2020 leadership team for their contributions and commitment to the College, in what has been a difficult year. They have held strong in their responsibilities as leaders throughout the challenges of 2020.
Congratulations to our new leaders for 2021. We have faith and trust in your abilities to serve as leaders for your peers and the Marian Community, we wish you all the best for the year ahead in your leadership roles.

π Student Spotlight β Daniella, Year 10 π We are incredibly proud of Daniella J from Year 10, who was recently selected to participate in the Air Force Aviation for Women Work Experience Program at the RAAF Base in Queensland. Daniella was one of only 16 students chosen from across Australia for this prestigious opportunity! Throughout the program, she explored aviation careers, engaged in hands-on activities, and represented our school with maturity, enthusiasm, and passion. ββ 2025 MATHS OLYMPIAD βοΈβ Every year, over 15,000 students from across Australia, New Zealand and Asia compete in the Senior Division (Years 7 & 8) of the Australian Problem Solving Maths Olympiad. Marian proudly enters 120 of our top Mathematics students into this prestigious competition. This year, the top two students in each grade received medals β congratulations to Jackson and Olivia in Year 7, and Aryan and Victoria in Year 8 on this outstanding achievement. We are also delighted to recognise four students whose results placed them in the top 25% of all competitors: Victoria (8), Elias (8), Tony (8) and Jackson (7). A special congratulations goes to Aryan , who achieved a place in the top 10% of the competition β an exceptional result. Well done to all students who participated this year! Your hard work, problem-solving skills and dedication to Mathematics are truly commendable. ππ

Students can wear a Santa hat at school and join the fun activities at recess and lunch. Congratulations to Zara S (Year 10) and Bree L (Year 9), as well as Adrian F and Elijah A (not pictured) who received their Premier's Reading Challenge Medals at Assembly last Friday! The PRC Medal is a capstone award celebrating seven years of consistent participation and completion in the Premier's Reading Challenge. We are extremely proud of this achievement for these students, and hope they continue to be lifelong readers and lovers of literature. Many other students received PRC Platinum Awards and Gold Awards at this assembly, congratulations to those students. PRC 2026 kicks off next February 23rd! Any books students are currently reading can go towards this challenge. ππ

Power The Change πͺβ¨ We are incredibly proud to share that our Year 12 (2025) student, Amelia Odell, was selected to attend the 2025 Olympic Change-Maker National Summit in Canberra! From nearly 1,000 applicants, only 25 students were chosen for this remarkable opportunity. Across three inspiring days, they collaborated with Olympians @_noemiefox @brodiesummers @emmajeffcoat @nathankatz66 & @conorjamesnicholas, tackling complex sporting challenges around sustainability, legacy, participation, technology, and access for rural and regional communities. Their innovative ideas impressed visiting MPs and leaders of the Olympic Movement as they presented at Parliament House β a powerful glimpse into the bright future of Australian sport π€―π Ameliaβs Reflection π βTo be chosen from nearly a thousand applicants to go to Canberra and spend three days with the Australian Olympic Committee, amazing Olympians, and a bubbly, awesome group of people from all around Australia was such an honour, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity and the friendships that came out of those three days. For all of us to become so close so quickly really puts into perspective how amazing and like-minded everyone was. It was even more truly incredible when we walked into Parliament House, ready to pitch our ideas for creating, making, and powering change for future generations of Australia. I was on Team Panther with Olympian Neomie Fox, and our pitch focused on creating a legacy for the Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. A big shout-out to the AOC staff who made it all happen, especially Bec, who made us feel welcomed and supported within the first few minutes of arriving at the AIS. This trip, and the chance to make a difference, wouldnβt have happened without them.β CONGRATULATIONS Amelia, what an inspiring and wonderful experience for you!

CO-CURRICULAR AWARDS EVENING 2025 Congratulations to our talented students who were recognised at our Co-Curricular Presentation Evening last week! The event was a wonderful celebration of the outstanding Sporting and Creative and Performing Arts achievements of our students throughout 2025. This year, we were also delighted to broaden our acknowledgment of student excellence by introducing two new Agriculture awards. πCANDY CANES FOR CHARITYπ Our 2026 School Leaders are excited to launch Candy Canes for Charity, a Christmas fundraiser supporting the San Miguel Family Centre. The San Miguel Family Centre provides vital support to families experiencing homelessness or hardship, offering accommodation, counselling, and programs that help parents and children rebuild stability and confidence. On Monday 8 December, our student leaders will deliver candy canes to students in Homeroom. Candy canes are available for pre-sale only through the Qkr App and are priced at $1 each, 3 for $2, or 4 for $5 β a perfect little treat for yourself or a festive gift for friends. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Over the past few weeks, our collection of shoeboxes has grown, as our Marian community generously supported this yearβs Operation Christmas Child appeal. Our Year 12 student leaders Alexis and Chloe guided the initiative with incredible enthusiasm, maturity, and a genuine desire to serve. Today, the boxes were loaded onto the Operation Christmas Child truck, ready to make their journey across the world to bring joy to children in need this Christmas. Thank you to our wonderful Marian community, for embracing such a meaningful and joy-filled initiative. Your generosity will touch lives well beyond our school community.

~ π SANTA HAT DAY & VINNIES CHRISTMAS APPEAL π ~ It's SANTA HAT DAY on Wednesday 10 December (Week 9). We've got loads of fun & festive activities organised for students to help us raise money for the annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Students can wear a santa hat while AT school and this is the last day for students to donate their hamper items. Students can also donate Woolies Return and Earn Vouchers or general store gift cards. There will be a range of activities in the DPA at recess and lunchtime. ~LEARNING AT MARIAN~ Each year, as part of their studies of Statistics, our Year 9 Mathematics students complete a statistical investigation on a topic of their choice as an assessment task. They design the investigation, collect, present & analyse the data and present their findings in a poster. The best student groups from each class were rewarded with a Pizza Lunch ast week! π The best posters from the grade are entered into the National Schools Poster Competition.
