You are invited to our annual CREATE! event which will be held on Tuesday 11th November from 5.30-7.30pm. CREATE! is a celebration of student's work this year, in all of our Key Learning Areas. ✝🎌🏏🎹🎨⚙️🧬🖊📔🌏🍽➗ From 5.30-6:30pm guests will be able to view displays across a number of year groups, whilst enjoying live music 🎤, and canapes prepared by the Hospitality students👨‍🍳. From 6:30-7.30pm a concert will be held in the College Performance Area, showcasing a variety of repertoire by our Music and Dance soloists and Ensembles. 🎼🩰 We look forward to welcoming you to 'CREATE' for 2025!

~ MISSION AT MARIAN – VINNIES VAN ~ Last week, once again, our wonderful Year 11 student volunteers and staff headed out with the Vinnies Van, supporting the communities of Parramatta and Mt Druitt. Together, they handed out food, snacks and drinks to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness — offering compassion, dignity, connection and conversation. ~LEARNING AT MARIAN - FOOD TECHNOLOGY~ Our Year 9 Food Technology students had an amazing time this week participating in a Cupcake Decorating Incursion run by the the talented Alexandra Tyral – The Late Night Baker. 🧁 Students learnt how to make American buttercream and discovered a range of piping techniques to decorate their own cupcakes in preparation for their upcoming assessment task that focuses on Food for Special Occasions. From elegant swirls to creative textures, the results were as delicious as they were beautiful. 🩷🧁🩷 A huge thank you to Alexandra for inspiring our budding bakers with her skills, creativity, and passion for all things sweet. #LearningAtMarian #BeChallenged #BeMarian

💚 BRADMAN FEAST DAY 💚 Commemorating the Feast of St. John Paul II: A Life of Compassion We celebrate the Feast of St. John Paul II, a truly remarkable soul whose life was a shining example of compassion, love, and faith. St. John Paul II, born Karol Józef Wojtyła, was a Pope who touched the hearts of millions around the world with his unwavering commitment to humanity. His legacy is one of compassion, and it's a legacy we can all learn from and strive to emulate. Throughout his pontificate, St. John Paul II showed compassion in so many ways: 💚 He tirelessly advocated for peace and reconciliation in a world often torn apart by conflict. 💚 He connected with people from all walks of life, regardless of their background, making them feel seen and valued. 💚 He reached out to those in need, visiting the sick, the imprisoned, and the marginalized, reminding us to show love and care to the least fortunate. 💚 He was an environmental steward, urging us to protect and cherish the world that God has given us. 💚 He emphasised the importance of prayer, showing us the path to finding solace and strength in our faith.

💜📚 PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE 💜📚 Congratulations to the 73 students who completed the 2025 Premier's Reading Challenge at Marian! Students have been participating in this challenge since February, reading 20 books and earning fun prizes along the way. Congratulations to 💜Sutherland for taking the win for the PRC House Cup earning 485 points! They were followed by 💛Paterson in 2nd with 365 points 💚Bradman in 3rd with 345 points ❤️Mackillop in 4th with 263 points We look forward to running the PRC at Marian in 2026! A reminder to any students interested in participating next year, that any books you read from October 2025 will count towards your 2026 challenge! #PRC2025

📝TERM 4 SENIOR STUDY SESSIONS📝 Year 9 & 10 Accelerated students, and Year 11 students are invited to the school's Senior Study Sessions. This is a great opportunity for students to work independently or collaboratively with other students and teachers. Senior study runs in the LRC from 3.30-5pm. 🌟 Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum 🌟 Last Friday, and over the weekend, our College Captains and Vice Captains attended the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum, a three-day program centred on the core values of Courage, Integrity, and Service. The forum brings together student leaders from a range of local schools to explore what it means to lead with purpose and compassion. Our students had the opportunity to connect and collaborate with leaders from other schools, taking part in engaging team-building activities, hearing from inspiring guest speakers, and contributing to a meaningful community service project. It was an invaluable and enriching experience that encouraged our leaders to reflect deeply on the importance of serving others and leading with authenticity. Mr Smith also attended a Principals’ workshop during the forum, where he was delighted to hear how our Marian leaders had been inspired and motivated by the experience.

~FAITH AT MARIAN~ Today Year 11 attended mass celebrated by Fr Giovani at St Madeleine Sophie Barat Parish. This is a special mass for Year 11 as it begins their Retreat experience with it culminating next week with a three day experience at Collaroy. Fr Giovani's homily focused on the Eucharist being the highest form of prayer and how we should follow the example of Abraham and place our trust fully in the Lord. #FaithAtMarian #BeConnected #BeMarian

🌟Celebrating Student Success! 🌟 We’re proud to celebrate outstanding student achievements across a range of International, National and state-level sporting and extracurricular competitions recently. ➡️ELLA D (Year 7) – Ella has had an incredible year of Netball achievements! 🏐 Earlier this year, she represented Indoor Netball NSW at the National Championships in Perth, where teams from all states competed across both 6-a-side and 7-a-side formats. Ella’s team placed 4th in 6s and 3rd in 7s, and she was named in the Australian Allstars Team — one of just ten players selected nationally from more than 100 competitors. 🌟 Ella has now been re-selected to represent NSW again at the 2026 National Championships in Queensland, and also recently placed 3rd in the state with Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association at the Netball NSW Junior State Titles. ➡️MIENKE B (Year 7) – Mienke recently represented Australia at the Trans Tasman Archery Championship, earning two medals: silver in the U14 Female Recurve 30/720 round and bronze in the U14 & U16 Female Recurve Matchplay. Her Australian team also won the overall Challenge trophy — an outstanding achievement! 🏹🇦🇺✨ ➡️ZACHARY V (Year 9) – Congratulations to Zachary, a Junior Varsity member of Sploove! 💃🕺 His Hip-Hop team achieved Silver at NSW Regionals and Gold at Nationals in Brisbane earlier this year. ➡️MAXIMUS P (Year 10) – Maximus recently represented NSW Sky (U15) at the Emerging Socceroos Championships (formerly the National Youth Tournament) in Melbourne. Competing against teams from across Australia, Maximus and his team finished in an impressive 3rd place. A brilliant result at a national level! 💙🇦🇺 ➡️OLIVIA P (Year 10) – Olivia won Gold Medals in both the 18 & Under Mixed Doubles and Girls’ Doubles (with her sister Charlotte P, Year 12) at the NSW Pickleball Championships 2025 and the Sydney Winter Indoor Pickleball Tournament. A fantastic result highlighting her skill and teamwork! 💙🏆🏓 ➡️SYRA M (Year 11) – Syra, a Youth Finalist in the St Columba’s Art Prize 2025! 🎨 Representing Marian Catholic College, her canvas artwork “Honestly?” earned her finalist status, and she was also one of 65 finalists in the Photography competition, selected from over 300 entries. An incredible achievement showcasing her creativity and talent across multiple mediums! 💙🖌️📸 ➡️ANDRA V (Year 12) – Andra has recorded a new personal best of 34.04 seconds in the 50m Breaststroke at the NSW Senior State Short Course Championships, qualifying for the 2025 Nationals Short Course — after already qualifying for Nationals Long Course earlier this year. 💪🏊‍♀️ ➡️CHARLOTTE P (Year 12) – Charlotte won Gold in the 18 & Under Girls’ Doubles (with her sister Olivia P, Year 10) and Silver in the 18 & Under Mixed Doubles at the NSW Pickleball Championships 2025. Another excellent display of skill and teamwork! 💙🏆🏓

~ 💛 WALK THE TALK 💛~ At the end of last term Year 10 students from the Walk the Talk crew hosted a successful Bake Sale to raise both funds and awareness for The Sanctuary, our local Hills District women’s refuge. During recess and lunch, tables were overflowing with delicious homemade treats and baked goods made by a number of year 10 students, with students working together to support women and families currently staying at The Sanctuary. This initiative reflects Year 10’s ongoing commitment to service, compassion and making a positive difference in the lives of others as well as their ongoing dedication to support The Sanctuary. Thank you to all the Marian students and staff who came along and supported the bake sale in purchasing a sweet treat, all proceeds from the day go directly towards supporting the vital work The Sanctuary does in providing safety, care, and hope for women and children in need. Thank you to our Marian community for your generous support of our Pasta Drive for the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Foodbank in Parramatta last term. The staff at JRS were deeply appreciative, as expressed in their message to us: “We want to say a massive thank you for the generous pasta donations that you dropped off — 54 bags of donations, a huge effort! These will go a long way in supporting people in need in our community.” A huge congratulations to Sutherland House 💜 for contributing the most donations. Thank you to everyone’s generous contributions.
