At our assembly last week, esteemed guests from Rotary Club of Blacktown Mr Russell Ashley, President, and Mr Keith Waller, STEM advisor, presented the 2024 Dr Russ Dickens OAM Award for Innovation to STEM Team "Spuddies". Elijah A and Joseph N were presented with individual plaques with former Marian student Sophie O acknowledged for her contribution to the team. Ms Breakspear was presented with a plaque for the school. A huge thank you to Russell and Keith for their support and partnership with CSIRO in providing these opportunities for students. 🌟💡⚙️

Last week, our Year 10–12 students were fortunate to hear from Paul Dillon, a leading expert in youth drug and alcohol education. With close to 30 years of experience and a reputation for delivering evidence-based information in an engaging and relatable way, Paul has made a lasting impact on our senior students. His sessions are not only informative but empower young people to make safer, more informed decisions. Our competitors performed extremely well with some great results, and several students progressing to NSWCCC. Our Year 9 students participated in a memorable Reflection Day this week, led by the vibrant and inspiring Chris Doyle. The day was filled with energy, laughter, and meaningful reflection as students explored the theme of living in community and what it truly means to support one another. ~ MARIAN FAITH IN ACTION TEAM ~ Today, Marian students put the finishing touches on welcome signs for a female Syrian refugee whom our school community is helping to sponsor. Mrs Thomas will take these signs to Mascot Airport this evening to greet her upon arrival. This initiative is part of the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Program (CRISP), which supports refugees who have no family in Australia. A dedicated committee of five volunteers acts as case managers, helping with everything from housing to community connection. Mrs Thomas serves on this committee, proudly representing Marian Catholic College. At school, we've been supporting this program through the donation of Woolworths Return and Earn vouchers. Every voucher helps – no matter how small – and contributes directly to easing the transition for those starting a new life in Australia. Vouchers can be handed in to Mrs Thomas and will also earn house points! Thank you to everyone who continues to support our Faith in Action initiatives. 🫶 #MarianFaithInAction #BeConnected #BeMarian

~2025 Hawkesbury Show~ CONGRATULATIONS to our Ag teacher Miss Van den Berge and all the MCCK Agriculture and Primary Industries students who achieved some excellent results at the Hawkesbury Show last weekend. Some of our students had the opportunity to work alongside Roogulli Farm, proudly showing their black and coloured (B&C) and Babydoll sheep. This partnership highlights the real-world opportunities available to our students and the strength of our connections with the agricultural sector. Year 8 Visual Arts Students Inspired by Visit from Johnny Romeo 🎨 Our Year 8 Visual Arts students were treated to an exciting and inspiring visit from internationally acclaimed pop artist Johnny Romeo. Known for his bold colours, energetic style, and thought-provoking imagery, Johnny captivated students with insights into his creative process and the power of self-expression through art. He shared stories behind his work, offered practical advice, and encouraged students to embrace their individuality and artistic voice. The visit was a memorable experience for all—and especially for one lucky student, Madden, who was thrilled to receive an original Johnny Romeo print ("Superman") to take home. The session sparked a new level of enthusiasm and creativity in our budding artists. Guest speakers from Macquarie University, Apprenticeship NSW, Torrens University, and the Australian Defence Force shared insights into course options, entry requirements, and career opportunities. Students appreciated the opportunity to ask questions and explore multiple post-school options. We pray for our mothers, our Heavenly mothers and mums-to-be.💐🌷💝 Lord Jesus Christ, You chose to put yourself—tiny, needy and helpless—into the nurturing and watchful hands of a human mother. Since then, every act of mothering, both physical and spiritual, in every time and every corner of the world recollects Mary’s. Inspired by this example, we, too, honour our mothers and mother figures today. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers and nurturers. This week, Year 10 attended a Mother's Day Mass at St Madeleine's with Fr Clement presiding. Fr Clement spoke to us about the importance of reflecting on the sacrifices our mothers and mother figures make every day to ensure that we are loved and cared for. He urged us to ensure that we do not just make our appreciation known on Mother's Day but every day. May we be inspired by the model of Mary Our Mother and take comfort in knowing that she is always with us. 🩷🩷

⛄️❄️Marian presents WinterGlow!❄️⛄️ We invite our Marian community to join us for our bi-annual winter festival on Tuesday 17th June from 5:30-7:30pm. The evening will feature fairy lights, food trucks, rock bands, busking by our Music and Drama students, performances by our Dance and Music ensembles, and a wonderful Art display. Hot chocolate and cupcakes will be available to purchase, with the proceeds that are raised being donated to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. All students in Years 7-10 must be accompanied by an adult ticket. Both the student and their accompanying adult must each purchase a ticket. Students performing and helping at the event do not require a ticket. TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE via TryBooking - please see the Compass notification with ticket information.
