💚✂💙 WORLD'S GREATEST SHAVE 💙✂💚 We are so incredibly proud of these students, and our teachers Mrs Chapman and Mr Holohan, for their compassion and courage as they braved the shave for the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave last Friday. As of today, they have raised a whopping $17,744!!!! It is truly amazing to see how wonderful our Marian community have supported #TeamMarian2025 with their generosity and kindness. 👏👏 SHOUT OUT to - Oscar, Ava, Griffin, Christian, Rocco, Alec, Jacob, Troy, Carlo, Sarosh, Brock, Mrs Chapman & Mr Holohan - you are all an inspiration and we are so proud of you all! 💙✂💚✂ Every dollar raised helps provide families with much-needed support while facing blood cancer and also funds research to stop blood cancer in it's tracks. MARIAN DAY is next Friday, 13 June (Week 7). This year's theme is 🌟 'Celebrity Amazing Race' 🌟 and we're very excited for our staff and students to celebrate! Students are to arrive at school at the normal time in FULL WINTER UNIFORM and we will commence the day with a College Mass. After Mass, students are permitted to change into appropriate mufti or a costume relating the the 'Celebrity' theme. Please see the letter communicated via Compass for more details. Some fun activities have been planned, and we're thrilled to announce that Outback Steakhouse Australia will be supplying lunch for our staff and students. We can't wait to celebrate Marian Day!!! 🫶⭐️

🥓🍳 Homeroom Reward for Sutherland 1! 💜🎉 Last week, the Sutherland 1 Homeroom were treated to delicious fresh bacon and egg rolls as a reward for being the top Homeroom for attendance in Term 1! 🥇 We congratulate them on their consistent presence and commitment! To mark the end of National Reconciliation Week, we gathered for the first Mass in the college's Bush Chapel. Fr Clement led the celebration and offered a blessing over the sacred space. Staff and students shared moving reflections on what Reconciliation means to them, speaking deeply to themes of identity, healing, truth-telling, and shared understanding. In his homily, Fr Clement drew on his own experiences to speak about unity — reminding us that we are all human, created under one God. He called us to peace, respect, and the importance of genuine acknowledgement. He reflected that, despite our differences and diverse backgrounds, we all share one Father and are united in faith. #FaithAtMarian #BeConnected #BeMarian #NRW2025 #BridgingNowToNext

~LEARNING AT MARIAN~ Last week, Year 10 students engaged in a powerful History incursion, Vietnam, Dusted Off, designed to deepen their understanding of the Vietnam War and its far-reaching effects. Brett Hunt, son of a Vietnam War veteran, captivated the audience with a compelling narrative and original musical compositions as he shared the story of his father, 'Frankie'. Through this deeply personal perspective, students gained insight into the enduring consequences of modern conflict and were encouraged to develop empathy for those affected. #LearningAtMarian #BeConnected #BeMarian

Students and parents of Years 9 to 12 are warmly invited to attend our next Pathways Breakfast on Friday, 20th June in the College Hall. This event, themed ‘Careers that Care’, will showcase inspiring career journeys in the health and wellbeing industries. Hear from Marian alumni currently working as nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and dietitians. Discover the pathways they took, what their daily roles involve, and the personal rewards of working in professions that make a real difference. Enjoy breakfast from 7:45am, with presentations beginning at 8:00am in the hall. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore your future in a career that cares! If you wish to attend, please RSVP no later than 12:00pm Friday 16th June as spaces are limited! This week our Year 8 students participated in their Year 8 Reflection Day facilitated by the Young Lesalians, Marian staff and the Year 10 and 11 students who are part of our Peer to Peer Ministry program. The theme for the day was 'Heroes' and focused on how we are each called to be heroes in our daily lives by learning from the lives of our Marian house saints. Students participated in team building activities and fun games. #BeConnected #BeMarian

~LEARNING AT MARIAN - YEAR 9 FOOD TRUCK PROJECT~ Recently, our Year 9 Young Entrepreneurs and Food Technology students came together to collaborate on the final stages of their Food Truck Project. 🤝 The project required students to design a unique food truck concept, complete with marketing strategies, financial and operational plans—and of course, to cook the delicious menu items they’d serve. 🥞🍔🍟🥙 Each group then pitched their ideas to a panel of Shark Tank-style judges in an attempt to secure “investment dollars” 💰💰. The energy, creativity, and teamwork on display were outstanding, and it was fantastic to see such a wide variety of thoughtful, well-executed ideas presented. One student shared: "I thought the incursion was a really unique experience and a great opportunity to practise public speaking, as well as learn key aspects of how to run a business. I also liked how the assessment wasn’t just words on a document—it stood out to me that I could hear and see the ideas of others." Another added: "I really enjoyed creating the presentation, sharing it with others, and making the small items we had the chance to showcase on the day. It was a great experience working with the Food Tech team to prepare an incredible dish and present it to the judges. Overall, I found the day to be a big success—we were able to apply what we had learned in class and demonstrate our skills and efforts through both the slides and our presentations."

Last week we were delighted to welcome a group of students from St Madeleine’s to Marian Catholic College for a special visit with Emma Salvador, the new Environmental Education Officer for The Hills Shire Council. It was a joy to hear the St Madeleine’s students proudly share their platypus books from last year and to exchange ideas about the exciting environmental initiatives taking place at both of our schools. The morning was filled with collaboration, inspiration, and hopeful conversations about future projects. We look forward to continuing this partnership as we work together to care for our common home.🌳🌏

Last week our 2024 Philippines Immersion students continued to explore the social injustices that face the world today and learnt skills to play a part in making the world a better place for all. These students also volunteered on the night to ensure the event was a success for all 130 student participants from across Sydney and the Central Coast.

Good Friday Walk an Amazing Feat of Faith

More than 1,400 Catholic students and young people from Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains came together in faith to participate in the annual Good Friday walk, a 21-kilometre pilgrimage from Blacktown to Parramatta.
