🥞🥞 SHROVE TUESDAY 🥞🥞 As the season of Lent begins, our school community is once again rallying behind Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, dedicating our Term 1 fundraising efforts to this important cause. Shrove Tuesday marks the traditional feast before the fasting period of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Historically, it was a time for Christians to go to confession and be “shriven” (forgiven of their sins) before embarking on 40 days of reflection and sacrifice in the lead-up to Easter. Today, our Student Leaders took on the challenge of serving hundreds of delicious pikelets to the hungry crowd.🥞✨ All proceeds from today’s pancake sales will go directly to Caritas Project Compassion, supporting communities in need. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed—whether by preparing, serving, or simply enjoying a pikelet or 5!! Your generosity and spirit of giving make a real difference, thank you! 🙏💛

Last week, six Marian students attended the Project Compassion Workshop at the St John XXIII campus. The experience was a meaningful opportunity to gather with students from over 50 schools across the diocese and learn more about this year’s Project Compassion campaign. Students were also inspired by Bishop Vincent Long, who encouraged everyone to work together in “Unity Against Poverty”. A key focus of the workshop was the story of Sisilia from Tanzania, which highlighted how access to water — a vital resource for human life — is not available to all. Through this story, students developed a deeper understanding of global inequality and the daily challenges faced by many communities. Students then collaborated to brainstorm a range of fundraising ideas that could be implemented within the school, including a school water walk to help build empathy for those who walk long distances each day to access clean water. Participating in the Project Compassion Workshop strengthened students’ commitment to following Jesus’ actions and encouraged them to continue to Walk With Christ. #ProjectCompassion #UniteAgainstPoverty #FaithInAction #CleanWaterForAll

Get ready to turn up the volume and rewind the clock — our 2026 School Musical is… Back to the 80s...the Totally Awesome Musical!!! 🎤✨ We are beyond excited to bring back the big hair, bold colours and totally rad tunes of the 1980s to the stage this year. From power ballads to pop anthems, this high-energy production promises leg warmers, acid-wash and a whole lot of neon nostalgia. It’s going to be like, totally awesome! A huge congratulations to our main cast, who are ready to take centre stage and rock this town. Our cast and crew have been shining bright at rehearsals, and we can’t wait to see everyone bring these dynamic characters to life. So tease that hair, dust off those shoulder pads and get out those mixtapes… because this musical is going to be totally wild! 🎶The countdown is on, and we'll be ready to rewind in June!!! 🌟🎉

Congratulations to Elisa Sanders from the HSC class of 2025, on her successful application into the 2026 Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) Teacher Scholarship Program. 🎉 Under the program, eligible students have the opportunity to receive financial assistance, paid employment within a CSPD school, and access to exclusive mentoring and professional support programs. We are incredibly proud to share that Sienna K (Year 8 ) was recently awarded the Young Citizen of the Year – Highly Commended Award. Sienna was presented with her award by The Hills Shire Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne — a wonderful recognition of her outstanding contribution to the community. Sienna was acknowledged not only for her achievements in dance, but also for her dedication to fundraising through Dance for Sick Kids, alongside her team 'Girls United'. Her commitment to using her talents to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others is truly inspiring. 🌟🌟 Congratulations, Sienna, on this outstanding achievement. 👏👏👏

~👨‍🎓👩‍🎓2025 GRADUATES ASSEMBLY 👨‍🎓👩‍🎓~ Today we celebrated and recognised the many achievements of our graduating class of 2025 at our special Graduates Assembly. We welcomed back a number of our students to hear of their future endeavours in both study and work. The destinations of our graduates are always vast and diverse, and we are very proud of their achievements and successes. Our 2025 College Dux, Kingston Su (97.65), addressed the College community, sharing insights from his academic journey and the dedication, discipline, and consistent preparation required to achieve excellence, while remaining steadfast in his faith. Kingston achieved Band 6 results in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1 and Physics. Mary Turner, our Academic Growth Award recipient, reflected on the growth she experienced in her senior schooling journey. She shared that in her earlier school years, she did not imagine achieving the ATAR she ultimately received. Mary emphasised the importance of prioritising mental health, maintaining a healthy social life, and developing effective planning and study habits, highlighting that balance and wellbeing were key contributors to her success. In 2025, Marian had 38 Distinguished Achievers. We had 186 students sit 537 HSC exams in 43 different subjects. The students achieved some amazing results, including 54 Band 6’s (a mark from 90-100), 143 Band 5’s (a mark of 80-99) and 210 Band 4’s (a mark of 70-89). This equates to 76% of exams achieving a mark over 70. We also recognised some of our current Year 12 students who studied an early commencement or accelerated course, achieving a Band 6 for the 2025 HSC. In Dance, two of our students were nominated for CALLBACK. Bianca Palacio was nominated in all 3 components of her Dance major work (Major Study Performance, Core Composition, Core Performance). Eva Sultana was also nominated for both her Major Study Performance and Core Composition. While we had some outstanding academic results, it is also important to recognise the Class of 2025 successes as a whole - young adults who are dedicated to spiritual, physical, emotional, and social growth. As our graduates leave this school, we know that exciting times are ahead of them. They are all poised to embark on new journeys and we wish them all the very best. What an unforgettable way to start the school year! This morning, Channel 7’s Sunrise crossed live to Marian to help welcome our seven sets of twins who began Year 7 today!!! We were seeing double as Oscar and Annabelle proudly represented our newest students, alongside Mrs Riley, speaking live with the Sunrise hosts about this unique milestone. We’re so proud to have shared this moment on a national stage and to welcome all of our Year 7 students — twins and all — into the Marian family. Today we welcomed our Year 12 students back to Marian for the start of the year — the Class of 2026. While we greeted our newest students in Year 7, we also marked a very special milestone for our seniors: their last first day of school ever!! It was wonderful to see our Year 12 students return with confidence, maturity, and a strong sense of purpose as they begin their final year. This year will be filled with memories, challenges, celebrations, and moments that will shape the next chapter of their journey.
