๐CANDY CANES FOR CHARITY๐ Our 2026 School Leaders are excited to launch Candy Canes for Charity, a Christmas fundraiser supporting the San Miguel Family Centre. The San Miguel Family Centre provides vital support to families experiencing homelessness or hardship, offering accommodation, counselling, and programs that help parents and children rebuild stability and confidence. On Monday 8 December, our student leaders will deliver candy canes to students in Homeroom. Candy canes are available for pre-sale only through the Qkr App and are priced at $1 each, 3 for $2, or 4 for $5 โ a perfect little treat for yourself or a festive gift for friends. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Over the past few weeks, our collection of shoeboxes has grown, as our Marian community generously supported this yearโs Operation Christmas Child appeal. Our Year 12 student leaders Alexis and Chloe guided the initiative with incredible enthusiasm, maturity, and a genuine desire to serve. Today, the boxes were loaded onto the Operation Christmas Child truck, ready to make their journey across the world to bring joy to children in need this Christmas. Thank you to our wonderful Marian community, for embracing such a meaningful and joy-filled initiative. Your generosity will touch lives well beyond our school community.

~ ๐ SANTA HAT DAY & VINNIES CHRISTMAS APPEAL ๐ ~ It's SANTA HAT DAY on Wednesday 10 December (Week 9). We've got loads of fun & festive activities organised for students to help us raise money for the annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Students can wear a santa hat while AT school and this is the last day for students to donate their hamper items. Students can also donate Woolies Return and Earn Vouchers or general store gift cards. There will be a range of activities in the DPA at recess and lunchtime. Students can also help in the following ways - ๐ Hamper Donations can be donated in Weeks 7 & 8 to the Student Foyer: โข ๐Bradman: Drinks (tea, coffee, Milo) โข โค๏ธMackillop: Biscuits & chips โข ๐Paterson: Christmas treats & decorations โข ๐Sutherland: Tuna, pasta & noodles โข All Houses: Toiletries (Toothpaste, Shampoo etc.) ๐ง Cupcake Donations๐ง - Bring decorated cupcakes for our Santa Hat Day bake sale! ~LEARNING AT MARIAN~ Each year, as part of their studies of Statistics, our Year 9 Mathematics students complete a statistical investigation on a topic of their choice as an assessment task. They design the investigation, collect, present & analyse the data and present their findings in a poster. The best student groups from each class were rewarded with a Pizza Lunch ast week! ๐ The best posters from the grade are entered into the National Schools Poster Competition. Congratulations to these students! ๐๐๐

We were excited to welcome our next cohort of Marian students at Year 7 Orientation Day this week! Our Year 6 students were placed into their House groups and took part in a range of fun activities and workshops led by our teachers and students. From decorating cookies and exploring CAPA and TAS workshops, to meeting the animals in the Ag Plot and getting hands-on with science, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Students also participated in a series of โgetting to know youโ activities, supported by our students, who guided the day and helped our incoming students feel welcomed and connected. House points were awarded throughout the day, contributing to the Orientation Day House Cup. With a very close race, congratulations go to the Paterson House, who eventually took out the win! ๐ It was a day filled with energy, laughter and new friendships. We canโt wait to welcome these future Marian students back in 2026 as they begin the next chapter of their Marian journey! ๐ #Classof2031

Last week, we welcomed the Marian community to our annual 'CREATE!' event. The evening featured performances from Music and Dance, along with displays of student work from all key learning areas. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for us to share with the community the diverse talents and creativity of our students and the dedication of our staff.

Student mobile phone use will be banned across 80 Western Sydney Catholic schools from the beginning of the 2026 school year. The restriction presents a positive opportunity to enhance student outcomes, both in academic excellence and wellbeing.

๐ Celebrating STEAM Excellence at Marian! ๐ At CREATE last week and at last Friday's assembly, we recognised the incredible achievements of our students across a range of STEAM programs in 2025. STEM MAD & CSIRO STEM CPP 26 students represented Marian at the Diocesan STEM MAD Showcase, designing creative solutions to real-world problems and have participated in the CSIRO STEM Community Partnerships Program. Their innovation and perseverance earned them the prestigious CSIRO CREST Award. ORBISPACE INITIATIVE Our Year 8 students took part in events that build creative confidence in young women in STEM, culminating in the exciting Pitch for the Planet, where they presented to real investors and sustainability experts. TOURNAMENT OF MINDS (TOM) Three Marian teams took on open-ended challenges across Language Literature, STEM and Social Sciences. Students wrote their own scripts, built their own props, and showcased outstanding collaboration and critical thinking. Our Social Sciences team was honoured with The Spirit of TOM Award for exceptional teamwork and resilience, as well as a Merit Award for their outstanding presentation. ๐ Congratulations to all students who represented the College with creativity, innovation and dedication. You continue to inspire our future in STEAM!
