~FAITH AT MARIAN~ Today Year 11 attended mass celebrated by Fr Giovani at St Madeleine Sophie Barat Parish. This is a special mass for Year 11 as it begins their Retreat experience with it culminating next week with a three day experience at Collaroy. Fr Giovani's homily focused on the Eucharist being the highest form of prayer and how we should follow the example of Abraham and place our trust fully in the Lord. #FaithAtMarian #BeConnected #BeMarian

NSWCCC Athletics Championships Last term, some of our students competed at the NSWCCC Athletics Championships. 🌟Celebrating Student Success! 🌟 We’re proud to celebrate outstanding student achievements across a range of International, National and state-level sporting and extracurricular competitions recently. ➡️ELLA D (Year 7) – Ella has had an incredible year of Netball achievements! 🏐 Earlier this year, she represented Indoor Netball NSW at the National Championships in Perth, where teams from all states competed across both 6-a-side and 7-a-side formats. Ella’s team placed 4th in 6s and 3rd in 7s, and she was named in the Australian Allstars Team — one of just ten players selected nationally from more than 100 competitors. 🌟 Ella has now been re-selected to represent NSW again at the 2026 National Championships in Queensland, and also recently placed 3rd in the state with Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association at the Netball NSW Junior State Titles. ➡️MIENKE B (Year 7) – Mienke recently represented Australia at the Trans Tasman Archery Championship, earning two medals: silver in the U14 Female Recurve 30/720 round and bronze in the U14 & U16 Female Recurve Matchplay. Her Australian team also won the overall Challenge trophy — an outstanding achievement! 🏹🇦🇺✨ ➡️ZACHARY V (Year 9) – Congratulations to Zachary, a Junior Varsity member of Sploove! 💃🕺 His Hip-Hop team achieved Silver at NSW Regionals and Gold at Nationals in Brisbane earlier this year. ➡️MAXIMUS P (Year 10) – Maximus recently represented NSW Sky (U15) at the Emerging Socceroos Championships (formerly the National Youth Tournament) in Melbourne. Competing against teams from across Australia, Maximus and his team finished in an impressive 3rd place. A brilliant result at a national level! 💙🇦🇺 ➡️OLIVIA P (Year 10) – Olivia won Gold Medals in both the 18 & Under Mixed Doubles and Girls’ Doubles (with her sister Charlotte P, Year 12) at the NSW Pickleball Championships 2025 and the Sydney Winter Indoor Pickleball Tournament. A fantastic result highlighting her skill and teamwork! 💙🏆🏓 ➡️SYRA M (Year 11) – Syra, a Youth Finalist in the St Columba’s Art Prize 2025! 🎨 Representing Marian Catholic College, her canvas artwork “Honestly?” earned her finalist status, and she was also one of 65 finalists in the Photography competition, selected from over 300 entries. An incredible achievement showcasing her creativity and talent across multiple mediums! 💙🖌️📸 ➡️ANDRA V (Year 12) – Andra has recorded a new personal best of 34.04 seconds in the 50m Breaststroke at the NSW Senior State Short Course Championships, qualifying for the 2025 Nationals Short Course — after already qualifying for Nationals Long Course earlier this year. 💪🏊♀️ ➡️CHARLOTTE P (Year 12) – Charlotte won Gold in the 18 & Under Girls’ Doubles (with her sister Olivia P, Year 10) and Silver in the 18 & Under Mixed Doubles at the NSW Pickleball Championships 2025. Another excellent display of skill and teamwork! 💙🏆🏓

~ 💛 WALK THE TALK 💛~ At the end of last term Year 10 students from the Walk the Talk crew hosted a successful Bake Sale to raise both funds and awareness for The Sanctuary, our local Hills District women’s refuge. During recess and lunch, tables were overflowing with delicious homemade treats and baked goods made by a number of year 10 students, with students working together to support women and families currently staying at The Sanctuary. This initiative reflects Year 10’s ongoing commitment to service, compassion and making a positive difference in the lives of others as well as their ongoing dedication to support The Sanctuary. Thank you to all the Marian students and staff who came along and supported the bake sale in purchasing a sweet treat, all proceeds from the day go directly towards supporting the vital work The Sanctuary does in providing safety, care, and hope for women and children in need. Thank you to our Marian community for your generous support of our Pasta Drive for the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Foodbank in Parramatta last term. The staff at JRS were deeply appreciative, as expressed in their message to us: “We want to say a massive thank you for the generous pasta donations that you dropped off — 54 bags of donations, a huge effort! These will go a long way in supporting people in need in our community.” A huge congratulations to Sutherland House 💜 for contributing the most donations. Thank you to everyone’s generous contributions.

Last term, two of our Year 12 students attended the Olympic Change-Maker Forum. We extend our congratulations to Amelia and Andra, who were Marian’s nominees for the prestigious 2025 Olympic Change-Maker Award. The Australian Olympic Change-Maker program celebrates students who embody the Olympic spirit — those who lead through sport or use it as a powerful platform to promote health, wellbeing, and positive change within their school and local community. Amelia has shown remarkable resilience and dedication through her selection in the Deaf Football Australia Women’s Squad. She continues to inspire her peers and the wider Marian community, proving that barriers can be overcome through perseverance and passion. Andra has excelled across three sports while balancing leadership responsibilities and academic commitments in her final year of school. Her determination and drive reflect the Olympic values of excellence, resilience, and friendship — motivating others to pursue their best both on and off the field. Congratulations to both girls! 👏👏👏

As our Year 12 students finish their schooling at Marian and celebrate their graduation this week, we also take a moment to acknowledge their incredible creativity and dedication. Earlier this month, we welcomed the Marian community to Xhibit – the 2025 HSC Major Works exhibition. Xhibit showcased major works from Visual Arts, Industrial Technology, Design and Technology, Society and Culture, English, Music, Drama and Dance. These works and performances were the culmination of many months of hard work and passion from our students.
