Marian students were honoured to participate in Anzac ceremonies throughout the local community this morning. As part of his role as one of Castle Hill RSL's Anzac Ambassadors, Jacob Carr of Year 11 took part in the dawn service held at Anzac Centenary Reserve, Kellyville. A number of Year 12 students represented the college at the Kenthurst Rotary Anzac Ceremony with college captains Joan and David laying a wreath at the memorial and Nick Forbes reading the Anzac requiem. It was wonderful to see our students representing the college with pride, reflecting and remembering the sacrifices of Australia's service men and women, past and present. Today we commemorate ANZAC Day. Today we give thanks and remember the sacrifices of those who have served and currently serve for our country's freedom. Congratulations to Jacob Carr who has been selected as an RSL Secondary School ANZAC Ambassador for 2024. The Ambassadors are selected each year after an extensive selection process, and only 4 students are selected from all schools in the Hills area. Jacob will speak at this year’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Centenary of ANZAC Reserve, Wrights Road, Kellyville on Anzac Day.

🎷🍡🎺A TASTE OF JAZZ 🎷🍡🎺 On Thursday 16th May from 5:30-9pm, Marian will be presenting an exciting event called "A Taste of Jazz", which will showcase the talents of our Hospitality, Music and Entertainment students. The event will be held in the college DPA and will include live Jazz performances by our current and Alumni Marian students. Guests will be treated to a four-course meal prepared and served by our Hospitality students. All proceeds raised on the night will be given to our Catholic Mission Ground Partners, as part of the 2024 Immersion Trip to the Philippines. Tickets are $30 for an adult and $20 for a child (plus 50c booking fee per person). Tickets can be made through the Trybooking link that has been sent to Marian families on Compass. Be quick as ticket sales close on Monday 6 May! We hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting evening!

Pippa, our school wellbeing dog, has been visiting regularly this term, wagging her tail with joy and delighting students with her furry presence. Our students have loved getting to know her, as she offers a comforting paw, or simply spreading cheer with her playful antics. ~ LEARNING AT MARIAN - MARY'S CAFE ~ Year 10 and 12 Hospitality students have been busy in Mary's Cafe this term cooking up a variety of global flavours in the kitchen, treating our staff to some delightful Italian, Lebanese, Mexican, Turkish, and pub lunch dishes. With mouthwatering kebabs, fragrant Lebanese kofta, spicy nachos, creamy pasta, and a hearty pub fare, the students showcased their excellent culinary skills! ‼️ SCHOOL CLOSURE - MONDAY 8 APRIL ‼️ Dear Parents, Carers and Staff Earlier this morning, we discovered that one of the pipes supplying water to Marian College and St Madeleine’s Primary Kenthurst had broken. Unfortunately, this is impacting the sewerage system on site also. With the health and safety of our school community as our priority, both Marian College and St Madeleine’s Primary Kenthurst will be closed for face-to-face learning today, Monday 8 April. We have already engaged plumbing services and are working to resolve the concerns as soon as possible. Students already at school will be supervised and parents may come and pick them up. Parents may also contact the school if they wish their child to make their own way home. We are very sorry for this inconvenience to students and their families. Thank you for your understanding. ~SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW RESULTS~ Congratulations to our Agriculture teacher Miss Van den Berge and our Agriculture students 👏👏 - we had some amazing results from our Hy-Line Layer Hens 🐥 and our Bees Wax 🐝 at the 2024 Sydney Royal Easter Show. HY-LINE LAYER COMMERCIAL HENS Marian received six Hy-Line Layer Hens last year as 6 week old chicks. The Primary Industries and Agriculture Students have raised and prepared the hens for the Easter Show including training them how to stand in a show pen. Students have closely monitored growth and nutrition since November. Out of 49 schools from across the state we were awarded the following - 🥉 3rd Commercial Presentation of Exhibits - judged on the first day of the show 🥉 3rd Egg Laying Component - judged at the end of the show 🏆🥇Champion - Most Successful School Exhibitor - judged at the end of the show SCHOOL BEESWAX MOULDS Students refined the college beeswax, melted and poured into animal moulds.
