Last week, we officially invested our 2021 Student leaders in our first online Investiture Assembly.
While COVID has prevented us from gathering as a whole school community, we were committed to formally honouring our 2021 leaders with as much tradition as possible.
With covid-safe protocols in place, we pre-recorded an investiture ceremony allowing our new leaders to be presented with their badges and address the school community via zoom.
We would like to thank our 2020 leadership team for their contributions and commitment to the College, in what has been a difficult year. They have held strong in their responsibilities as leaders throughout the challenges of 2020.
Congratulations to our new leaders for 2021. We have faith and trust in your abilities to serve as leaders for your peers and the Marian Community, we wish you all the best for the year ahead in your leadership roles.

In the last week of term, the Marian Catholic College community gathered in faith and joy for our End of Year Christmas Mass, celebrated by Fr Clement. In his thoughtful homily, Fr Clement invited us to pause and reflect on the learning, growth, and grace that have shaped our journey throughout the year. He reminded us that the Christmas story calls us to recognise Godโs presence in our daily lives and to carry forward the lessons we have learnt with hope, gratitude, and renewed purpose. It was a beautiful and prayerful conclusion to the school year, uniting our community in celebration and thanks.

~ATTENTION YEAR 12 2025 GRADUATES~ CSPD is pleased to launch the 2026 CSPD Teacher Scholarship Program, created to support Year 12 graduates in our schools as they begin their journey toward a career in education by commencing a full-time Primary or Secondary teaching degree next year. Applications for the 2026 program are now open and close Monday 26 January 2026. This initiative forms part of our Early Careers Strategy, focused on building a strong, prepared, and supported pipeline of future teachers for our CSPD schools. Under this program, successful applicants will have access to a range of valuable supports, including: - Financial assistance โ $5,000 per calendar year of full-time study - A new laptop provided at the commencement of their teaching degree - Paid employment opportunities in CSPD schools - Exclusive mentoring, formation, and development sessions throughout their degree - Priority employment pathways into CSPD teaching roles upon graduation Applicants will be required to submit a cover-letter-style application that includes: - A resume - Nomination of one professional reference from their school (e.g. Principal) - ATAR results The 2026 application form can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1GqiryN5E37JldBW_Dv8Qrru3kjwZwHvf8UMQLJ1BMW8/viewform?edit_requested=true As part of the application process: - Applicants will be asked to provide a professional reference (e.g. their Principal) - The CSPD Early Talent Team will contact the nominated referee directly to verify and confirm applications and eligibility at the start of the 2026 school year. - Given the time of year that applications have opened, applicants have been advised that they are not required to contact the school/principal for a reference (which is different to previous years)

In the final weeks of term, our Year 10 students have taken part in a series of purposeful programs designed to equip them with diverse skills and experiences to support their transition into Stage 6 studies or the workforce. Through the โSpark Programโ, students stepped out into the local community volunteering at local primary schools and retirement homes. Other students worked together at the College to carefully wrap gifts and create heartfelt cards for the Vinnies Winter Appeal. These opportunities encouraged students to develop empathy, strengthen communication skills and live out our Catholic values through service to others. Spark Week also included the Galmatic Car Maintenance workshop, which equipped students with practical knowledge and skills in tyre changing and general car maintenance. During โXplor Weekโ, students preparing to enter Stage 6 in 2025 immersed themselves in their selected Year 11 subjects. Guided by their teachers, this hands-on exploration gave students a clearer understanding of course expectations and helped them approach senior studies with confidence and purpose. Congratulations to our Year 10 students for the energy, maturity and positivity they brought to these valuable learning experiences.

~INTERNATIONAL MATHS CHALLENGE~ Every year, on a weekend in November, Marian students are invited to participate in the International Maths Challenge. As a selected school, we have been vetted by the competition organisers and specifically invited to have our students enrol in the Online Simulated Maths Challenge, which involves answering 34 questions, at three different difficulty levels, in 60 minutes. This year, 10 students from Years 7 to 10 chose to compete, and we are very pleased to announce that 3 have achieved results that place them higher than 80% of the students from around the world who entered the competition!!! They have been graded as International Maths Challenge Elite Level competitors! ๐โโโโ Congratulations to Victoria A (Year 8 ), Aryan S (Year 8 ) and Jaime M (Year 10) - we are very proud of what you have achieved!!! ๐๐๐

The festive spirit was alive and well at Marian today as we celebrated our annual Santa Hat Day! ๐ โจ Recess was buzzing with excitement as students and staff came together to raise valuable funds for the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Christmas treats ๐๐ช added an extra touch of joy, and Santa brought plenty of cheer with a lively round of Christmas karaoke, filling the space with smiles and song. ๐ถ A heartfelt thank you to our generous Marian families who have once again donated an abundance of items to support this important cause. Our community continues to embody the true spirit of giving and compassion for those in need. Special thanks to Mrs Thomas for coordinating such a joyful and meaningful day of festive fun and goodwill! ๐

~LEARNING AT MARIAN ~ This week, Year 9 PASS students assisted at the St Angelaโs Swimming Carnival at Blacktown Aquatic Centre. The students supported the event in various roles, including timekeepers, morning tea helpers and supervisors of novelty activities. These activities included sack races, egg-and-spoon races, a pool-noodle tag game with cones, and parachute games. The students were excellent ambassadors for the school and demonstrated strong application of their learning from PASS, particularly in the area of event management. They also participated in a relay race at the end of the day, contributing to a positive and energetic conclusion to the carnival. #LearningAtMarian #BeChallenged #BeMarian

๐ STUDENT SPORTING SPOTLIGHT ๐ Weโre celebrating an incredible run of achievements from our talented Marian students across baseball, equestrian, dance, netball and swimming. โพ Beau S (Year 9) BASEBALL - Beau has been selected in the Under 16 NSW squad to represent NSW at the Australian Youth Baseball Championships in January 2026. He also recently represented Australia at the 15s Baseball Oceania Championships in Guam, where the team dominated, winning all six games and securing their place at the 2026 Baseball World Cup in Italy ๐ฎ๐น. Beau delivered an exceptional performance, including a grand slam home run, 6 RBIs, and finishing the tournament with the highest slugging percentage and most runs batted in!! ๐ด Addisyn R (Year 9) - EQUESTRIAN โ Addisyn continues to shine on the equestrian circuit, representing Marian with pride. Addisyn placed at State Interschools, including winning her rider event and being named reserve for the Nationals team. She also competed at Arndell Interschools winning the very hotly contested Supreme Rider on her trusty Cheraton Winterfell who has been her main horse this year. ๐ Keira M (Year 9) - DANCE - Keira had an extraordinary experience at the grand opening of Press Play, an elite American ๐บ๐ธ dance convention with the opportunity to compete a solo and audition for a spot as one of their featured artists. She was selected as one of their Featured Artist Winners from over 200 U.S. dancers and was awarded a full scholarship to attend Nationals in Las Vegas in 2026, plus any regional event of her choice for 2026/27. Achieving a 97+ score bracket for her solo, she also had the opportunity to assist acclaimed choreographer Paris Cavagnah and took class with global industry leaders, including choreographers from Dancing with the Stars and Mandy Moore (Taylor Swiftโs Eras Tour). Keira will return next year to represent Australia once again! ๐ NETBALL โ Congratulations to our talented students selected for the U16 Girls NSW Western Sydney Academy of Sport Netball Program: Zali A, Katherine F and Amalia T. A wonderful achievement and a testament to their dedication to the sport! ๐โโ๏ธ Isabelle V (Year 7) - SWIMMING โ sabelle has qualified for the 2026 Australian Age Nationals Swimming Championships in the 50m Breaststroke! At the NSW Youth Metropolitan Championships, she needed a time of 37.67 โ she smashed it with 37.52, earning 3rd in NSW, a 0.73 PB, and a bronze medal at just 12 years old! ๐ Congratulations to all our incredible athletes! Your hard work, dedication and passion for sport is inspiring!!!
